Charles E. York, age 72, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the loving longtime companion of nearly thirty-three years of Marli von Stutterheim.
Born in Attleboro, MA on March 24, 1950, he was a loving son of the late Stanley E. and Dorothy L. (Strese) York.
Charlie grew up in town and was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield High School. He continued his studies, graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Arts. Prior to retiring, Charlie had been employed as a cartoonist for the Mansfield News.
A member of the Original Congregational Church in Wrentham, Charlie’s family was his greatest joy in life, as well of a lifelong passion for planes which included building model airplanes and formerly working at the Mansfield Airport. Charlie always kept up on cartons and the cards he created for family and friends will always be treasured in their hearts.
In addition to Marli, he was the dear brother of William L. Siegfried and his wife Arlene of Texas, Christine E. Zaniboni and her husband William of Mansfield, Bradford E. York and his wife Dale of Mansfield and the late Joyce M. Niemi and her late husband Bob. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
