CHICOPEE – Doris T. Fagnant, 94, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee. She was born at home on McKinstry Avenue in Aldenville on October 9, 1928, beloved daughter of the late Wilfrid J. and Eva A. (Beaulieu) Fagnant. She was raised in Aldenville, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield in 1946. She furthered her education and attended Holyoke Community College. She was employed for 41 years as a Bookkeeper at her family’s business, TV Rental, Inc. in Chicopee. She later worked as a Proofreader at Deluxe Check Printers in Springfield and retired in 1993. She was a former Communicant, Eucharistic Minister and Saint Anne Sodality Guild Member at Saint Anne Church and currently was a Communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church, both in Chicopee. She was a member of the Chicopee and Belchertown Prayer Groups and a longtime volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee and Jericho in Holyoke. During her leisure time, she enjoyed music, reading, playing Cribbage and Canasta and cheering on the Boston Red Sox. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was extremely generous with monetary donations to multiple charities and always remembered loved ones on special occasions. She leaves her brother, Rene V. Fagnant and his wife, Claire, of Chicopee; sister, Irene F. Gill of Indian Orchard; and many dear nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard R. Fagnant; and two sisters, Claire D. Cadry and her husband, Sidney “Sid” Cadry and Janet F. Shaw and her husband, Robert Shaw. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to her Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
