Raymond Edsel Coley, 86, of Moultrie, Georgia, formerly of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Ocilla Cemetery, in Ocilla, Georgia, with Brother Joey Veal officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Coley was born August 8, 1936, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Arthur & Maggie Griffin Coley. He was a graduate of Irwin County High School and held the position of quarterback for the Irwin County Indians football team. He retired after 40 years of service from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Coley was an avid golfer and served as the President of the Ocilla Country Club for several years. He also held the title as club champion for various years. He was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue Giddens Coley of Moultrie, formerly of Ocilla; four children: Darlene (Randy) Hancock of Adel, Dee (John) Hancock of McIntyre, Kelly (Lyndy) Jones of Moultrie and Eric (Kristi) Green of Warner Robins; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a brother, Jerry Coley of Tifton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert Coley, James Coley and Charles Coley and two sisters: Mary Ellen Rae and Louetta Gordon.
