Daniel J. Ormond 1948-2022

“The things that have always been important: to be a good man, …to do my work without looking back, to give it all I've got, and to take pride in my work….” - Johnny Cash

Daniel J. Ormond, 74, of Stoughton, Massachusetts died on December 26 at home after a long illness.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1948, he was the son of Donald J. Ormond and Genevieve (White) Ormond, and younger brother to Donald Ormond and sister Patricia Ormond. He was raised in Hyde Park, attended Randolph High School, and after a brief relocation to Arkansas, was a longtime resident of Stoughton.

Dan was extremely hardworking and was a longtime employee of Central Auto in Stoughton, Lyman Brothers in Canton, and Atlantic Blastic in Mildord.

He was deeply committed to helping those in need and continued decades of charitable giving through his final days. An avid reader, Dan was fond of Mystery and Western novels, with a particular affinity for Louis L'Amour and Alistair MacLean. He loved music, Classic Country, Neil Diamond, and Classical; classic movies and television, John Wayne westerns and Golden-Age musicals; and all manner of crime drama, including Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and Poirot. Dan loved nature, spending time in the Blue Hills Reservation and at Piers Park in East Boston, and gardening. He enjoyed building projects, doing home repairs and renovations, and building play structures for his children when they were young. Dan valued honesty, hard work, and helping others.

He is survived by his wife Laurie (Thomson) (Medeiros) Ormond and her son Shawn Thomson and; his former wife Nancy Fowler and their daughter Donna Ormond; his former wife Janet Ormond Curran, their four children Elizabeth (Steve) Owen, Lisa (Sean) Kinsman, Michael (Colby) Ormond, and Ann-Marie (Dan) Doherty, and their grandchildren Emma and Lily Kinsman.
