Obituary

Loretta Eade McKinney, 92, of Leelynn Circle, Londonderry, died Saturday November 24, 2001 at the Ridgewood Center, Bedford following a short illness. She was born August 27, 1909 in Lynn, MA, daughter of the late James C. and Anna J. (Sullivan) Eade. Before her marriage, she was a shoe designer and a Powers Model in Boston, MA. She was a resident of Londonderry since 1944, formerly living in Needham, MA. She was very active in civic affairs. She was a charter member of the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, a founder of the original Londonderry Taxpayers Association, past president of the Londonderry Historical Society, a secretary of the New Hampshire Historical Association, past president of the #7 School and the Central School PTA’s, a founding member of the Londonderry Athletic and Civic Association, an instructor in the Red Cross Swim program, a 4-H leader, a member of the Manchester Memorial Booster Club, and a Londonderry correspondent to the Derry Star. She enjoyed politics, Red Sox baseball, reading and corresponding with family and the many friends she and her husband had made during their travels in the winter months. She loved gardening, bird watching and entertaining. She was an excellent cook, often providing for others in time of need.

She is survived by two daughters, Betsy McKinney, of Londonderry, NH, Deana McKinney McKee, of Bartlett, NH, and one grandson, Matthew Howard, of Bartlett and Durham, NH. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years Bernard G. McKinney in 1989 and by one sister Arlene Eade Qualters in 1981.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 27th at 10:00am at St. Jude’s Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry. Friends may call on Monday November 26th from 7-9pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Londonderry Firefighters Relief Association, C/O Londonderry Fire Dept, 280 Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053 or the Londonderry Leach Library, Mammoth Road, Londonderry, NH 03053.
