Frances “Franny” Edith (DeBaggis) Bertone left this world on January 1, 2023, at the age of 81, in Boston MA. Her battles in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges with strength, faith, and conviction. A fighter until the end, Frances was our hero, and she will be greatly missed.
Daughter of the late Primo and Carmela “Jenny” (DeAngelo) DeBaggis, Frances was born, raised and lived her entire life in Franklin MA. She met the love of her life, Joe, in high school and they remained committed and faithful to each other for over 60 years. Together they had three daughters: Cheryl (husband Patrick Connell), Deneen and Sharon (partner Donald Wardwell). Dad was her rock, her trusted companion/caregiver the last few months. We love you Dad for your devotion and commitment to Mom.
Frances graduated from Franklin High School Class of 1960 and the Peabody School of Hairdressing in Norwood. She was a local hairdresser for over 50 years, previously working for the former JJ Newberry in Franklin before establishing her own salon. She also worked for the Ginley Funeral Home using her skills to assist those moving on to their next journey – a job she was devoted to. Franny loved her career but cherished her family and the time spent with them more. She created a beautiful, warm, and welcoming home where the door was always open, conversations were abundant, and wine was flowing (sometimes the occasional rum & coke). Everyone who came was embraced with open arms, lifelong friendships were forged, and memories made.
Franny and Joe enjoyed traveling and were able to appreciate time spent together in Aruba, Hawaii, Italy, the Cape, and the Islands. Some of these vacations were shared with the extended family creating lifelong memories that will be forever beloved.
Above all, the pride of her life were her four beautiful grandchildren who she could never shout enough praises for. Her love for them was endless and she was immensely proud to share stories and pictures. Nichole Connell, Amanda Connell, Morgan Robinson, and Benjamin Robinson. Grandma is proud of you and loves you!
Franny was one of four children. She is survived by a brother Nicholas DeBaggis (wife Pricilla Perron) and a sister Edith Frances DeBaggis. She was the sister of the late Donald DeBaggis (wife Loretta Proulx).
The family extends tremendous gratitude and thanks to Jim Ginley for his thoughtful, caring, and compassionate care of our wife, mother, and grandmother. His kindness will never be forgotten.
