Edward “Ted” Downey, 85, of Gilford, New Hampshire passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022.

He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and four of the most loving grandchildren: Madison, Meghan, Nolan and Maisie.
Ted grew up in Somerville, MA and after marrying Trudy, they moved to Trudy’s childhood home in Lynn, MA, where they raised their three girls and created many memories that they will cherish forever.
Ted proudly served six years as a Sergeant in the United States Army. He was an active member of the American Legion and served for many years as Post Commander at Post 291 in Lynn, MA.

Ted was an avid candlepin bowler. He and Trudy played on a couple’s league for many years. They were also members of the Irish Club in Fort Myers, FL. Ted enjoyed playing golf and traveled to many courses around the world.
Ted's day often began when he opened the kitchen curtains, and his morning coffee was “delivered” to him as he watched with dismay, as the squirrels ate the seeds from his precious bird feeders.
Ted’s happiest times were taking his family and friends out on his boat and showing them all the wonderful places on Lake Winnipesaukee.
“Grief is the last act of love we give to our loved one. Where there is deep grief there is great love.”
