Obituary

Mary Ellen “Mae” Connell (Cuddy) “Supa” Born in Boston on February 16, 1932. Grew up and lived most of her life in Jamaica Plain. She always said JP was her home. Attended St. Thomas Aquinas grade school and high school. Worked for Sears and Roebuck on Brookline Ave. in Boston before getting married on April 30, 1955. Later through the 60’s Mae worked for The New England Telephone Co. in Boston for about 10 years. Mae would also work for Mass Health through the 80’s and the 90’s. Died December 28, 2022 at age 90 Mother Agnes Lavin of County Mayo, Father Joseph Leo Cuddy of Lynn Preceded in death by her husband Frank Connell Departed sisters and brothers, Michael, James, Edward, Patrick all Cuddy’s. Sisters Constance “Connie” Buckley and Agnes “Aggie” Melanson. Mother to Francis “Frank” Connell of Norfolk MA, Stephan Paul Connell of Weymouth MA and Michael Joseph of California. Also the daughters she always wanted the spouse of Frank Connell, Mary Ellen Connell and Brenda Connell former spouse of Michael Connell. When her grandchildren began coming along the Matriarch Mae was elevated to rank of
Grandmother and much loved by all her grandchildren; Sean Patrick Connell of East Providence RI, Frank Connell of Randolph MA, Mary Ellen Puopolo of Norwood MA and Justin Connell of Santee CA. Also grandmother to Katie Connell wife of Frank Connell of Randolph, John Puopolo husband of Mary Ellen Puopolo of Norwood and Lacey Connell wife of Justin Connell of Santee CA. When the first of 13 great grandchildren came along Mae was elevated again to “Super Nana” as we then had a new Nana in Mary Ellen Connell. Later, her title became simply “Supa”. Her great grandchildren were named Ronan, Ciara, Liam, Nicholas, Gianna, Caleb, Joseph, Maddie, Michael, Gabriel, Lucy, Annie and Maggie. Mae was diagnosed with dementia in 2005 and slowly slipped away over the next 17 years, living at Sunrise Assisted Living in Norwood for a few years and then with her son and daughter in law Frank and Mary Ellen at their home in Norfolk for nearly 9 years. Most recently Mae resided at Maples Nursing Home in Wrentham for 10 months before falling and breaking her hip and suffering a heart attack on December 13 of 2022. She spent the remained of her life in Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Rhode Island. Mae is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. Mae was always an indispensable part of all our family events over the years. She was also dearly loved by many extended family members who affectionately referred to as Supa as well. Supa was loved dearly by all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as they brought her great joy!!! Thank you for the Life you provided us Ma!! Frankie, Stevie and Michael. Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday January 3 from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church 130 South St., Wrentham on Wednesday January 4 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph cemetery, West Roxbury.
