Lurlyne Kight Young, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 28, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 31, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Brother Tim Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Young was born June 1, 1939, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Ed & Minnie Harper Kight. She worked for Haile’s Drug Store, the fabric department of TG & Y, Fitzgerald Underwear and she was co-owner of L & L Gas & Grocery. Mrs. Young loved quilting and each new grandchild received one. She was of the Church of God faith.
She is survived by her son, Charlie Young & Donna of Fitzgerald; a daughter, Donna Gail Hayes of Adel; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marie McKinley of Dublin and Betty Starling of Eatonton and four sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Young; a son, Lamar Young; a grandchild, Lisha Ann Young; and seven brothers and sisters.
