Obituary



Thomas Carter Maley, 73, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022 after a short but valiant battle of cancer at the VA Brockton Hospice Unit.

The eldest son of John and Jean Maley, Thomas was born on November 22, 1949 in Framingham, MA. He was raised in Southborough and graduated from high school in 1967. Attended U Mass Amherst before being drafted into military service.

Tom then served as an Army Helicopter Pilot in Vietnam after graduating No. 1 in his flight school class. He achieved rank of Chief Warrant Officer CW2 after being honorably discharged.

Having earned degrees in Chemistry and Business Management, Tom began his successful career in medical technology, to the top of his field. Among his many accomplishments are scientific publications and numerous patents. While working at Corning Medical, he met Diana, whom he married on December 4, 1976. Just before his passing, they celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary. They have one son, Jason.

Upon retirement at age 55, Tom read avidly, golfed, enjoyed cooking and baking, travelled extensively with his wife and enjoyed the best life had to offer. Attending his Vietnam Helicopter Pilot’s Association Reunions became an annual favorite tradition to reconnect with his fellow pilots.

He is survived by his wife, Diana; son, Jason; and his 8 younger siblings; Kathy Wilhelmsen, Robert Maley, John Maley, Maureen Falconi, Diane Coughlan, Margaret Ernst, Michael Maley and Ann Bouvier and their spouses, nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date.
