Retired Director of The Charlestown Golden Age Center, Beverly Ann Sullivan Gibbons, a lifelong, proud resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Sunday morning, December 25, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 76 years of age.
Beverly was born in Boston on January 11, 1946, a daughter of the late Elizabeth O’Donnell Sullivan of County Donegal Ireland. She grew up in Charlestown where she graduated from Charlestown High School. She was a Supervisor for the Hematology Department of the Harvard Medical Surgery at the Boston City Hospital for many years before her pursuit of a higher education degree. Beverly received her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston State College of which she was extremely proud to be in the last graduating class before the merger with the University of Massachusetts.
Beverly was the Founder and Director of The Charlestown Golden Age Center for 36 years. Beverly was a devoted Townie dedicated to serving all elderly Townies in their recreational, health and housing needs. In this role, her dedication was always to assist the elderly Townies with whom she bonded and had a special kinship, love and devotion because she lived in Charlestown her entire life and knew the difficulty and struggles of being an Elder Townie.
Loving and beloved best friend & devoted wife of 54 years to Donald Gibbons. Devoted mother of Michelle Gibbons and her husband Sean Lee, and Daniel Gibbons and his companion Rosina Fabbo. Adored Nana of Regan and Daniel Lee and Daniel Giacomo Gibbons all of whom she loved and cherished every moment of her life. Beloved sister Mary Curry of Melrose and the late William Sullivan, Edward Sullivan, Philip Sullivan, Robert Sullivan, and Gail O'Neill.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Beverly’s visiting hours on Friday morning, December 30, 2022 in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. followed by her Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
