Mary Jane Gravel was a charismatic and affectionate woman who enjoyed painting, doting on her pets, and bringing relatives together to celebrate family. Unfortunately, we lost this fierce fighter and loving heart on December 19, 2022, at the early age of seventy, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy.
She was born in Milford in 1952, the last of twelve children and daughter of the late Adam and Dorothea Armstrong. Mary Jane is survived by her son; Shane Gravel of Blackstone, last living sibling; Jack Armstrong of Blackstone, four stepchildren; Donna Hand, Barbara Dainef, Debra Hebert, and Robert Gravel and her three grandchildren; Adam, Hannah, and Abigail, of whom she spoke about often and affectionately. She was married to the late Robert Gravel and spent 45 years by his side. They lived together in Blackstone, MA, where Robert spent years remodeling their home to include a painting loft for Mary Jane.
Mary Jane cherished life and interacting with her loved ones. She would talk nostalgically and enthusiastically over her vast collection of photographs and letters dating as far back as 1913. She was a talented painter who enjoyed art and had a particular fondness for butterflies and angels. Her heart and soul have always been as free as birds, and she now flies with the angels.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street, followed by a brief service at 6:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mary Jane's memory to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, https://secure.aspca.org/team/mary-jane-gravel-memorial-campaign
