Vena V. Saheed, 95

Vena V. (Schmidt) Saheed, age 95, of North Easton, formerly of Norton, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022 at the Life Care Center in West Bridgewater. She was the beloved wife of the H. Michael Saheed, to whom she was wed for forty-seven years at the time of his death on September 20, 1998.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on September 26, 1927, she was a loving daughter of the late Harry F. and Marie A. “Marion” (Descoteaux) Schmidt.
Vena grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire and was a graduate of Manchester High School. She had made her home in North Easton for the past two years, was a former twenty-seven years resident of Norton and previously lived in Amherst for thirty-one years.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Saheed had been employed as a Telephone Operator for twenty- five years and at the time of her retirement, the company operated under the name of Verizon.
Vena was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. She was proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and while residing in Amherst was a member and past president of the Alpine Garden Club.
Spending time with her treasured family was always the first priority of Vena’s life. She enjoyed horseback riding, bowling, knitting, baking, rug braiding and will always be fondly remembered for her true charitable nature.
She is survived by her devoted children: Susan J. Saheed of Attleboro, Terri M. Saheed Beebe and her husband Frank of Medford, Karen M. Saheed Mekler and her husband David of North Easton and Michael D. Sheridan and his wife Susan of Sutton. She was pre-deceased by six siblings and is also survived by her cherished seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, December 30th from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 31st at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Furnace Village Cemetery in Easton.
