Meredeth Fowler Zaldastani, lovingly known as “Merry”, of Dover, MA passed away peacefully on November 25, 2022 at the age of 89. Merry was born on March 24, 1933 to Bud Fowler and Gerry Hodgson Fowler.
After her studies at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Meredeth married Guivy Zaldastani and moved to Milton, MA where she raised her children. An award-winning artist, Merry favored calligraphy and watercolors. She crafted many stunning holiday cards and invitations over the years that have become keepsakes. She created multiple book covers, illustrations and border artwork.
Growing up in Dover, Merry loved horses and even rode her horse to school. A lifelong equestrian and member of the Norfolk Hunt Club, she owned and instructed at Lamazi Farm in NH and the Warelands Farms in MA. She enjoyed exploring the world, from France and the country of Georgia, to weekend trips to Maine and Cape Cod.
As the backbone to many of the family’s endeavors, Merry was a consummate host. She brought people together with her grace. She organized large events as well as intimate gatherings; regardless of size, her personal touch was apparent in their success. Her fine arts skills set her up to be a distinguished designer for multiple Boston Show Houses and an accomplished buyer for the family home furnishings retail business.
A deeply religious woman, Merry spent many hours studying the Bible and volunteering at her local churches over the years. As a Christian, she enjoyed teaching the youngest of her community at Sunday School.
She was predeceased by her mother, father, and brother Peter Fowler. She is survived by her children: Nicholas Zaldastani, Tamara Zaldastani Johnston, and Nina Zaldastani Torr, and their spouses; her grandchildren: Natella Johnston, Alexander Zaldastani, Mia Zaldastani, Sophie Johnston, Kali Torr, and Hunter Torr; her brother Geoffrey Fowler and cousin Dick Hodgson, along with Fowler, Hodgson, and Zaldastani family members.
Meredeth will be missed by everyone who had the privilege to know and love her. To honor Merry’s life, there will be a service on May 6, 2023 at The Dover Church, 17 Springdale Avenue, Dover MA at 11 AM, followed by a reception.
