Gertrude “Trudy” Hackett Cuetara longtime Wellesley resident died December 1, 2022, and is survived by daughter Catherine Nichols (Jeff) of Bay Village, OH, and son Christopher (Kelly) of Downingtown, PA as well as grandchildren CJ Nichols (Jennifer), Andrew Nichols (Molly), Peter Cuetara, and Caroline Cuetara, and great grandchildren Maggie, Georgia, Austin and Sloane Nichols.
Growing up in Brookline, MA she was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School for Girls ’45 and achieved her BA in English from Simmons College ’49. Trudy was predeceased by her husband Frank, her sisters Genevieve and Margaret, and brother Chris.
Active in the Wellesley Girl Scout Council, Simmons College Alumnae Club, St. Paul’s Quilters, and Church Women United. Trudy was an avid birdwatcher and crossword puzzle solver. As the head bookkeeper at F. Diehl & Son for many years, she was recognized for her reliability, common sense and speed as she kept accurate records for each department. She enjoyed the daily walks to and from her office noting the birds as well as the laughter from gym classes and teams competing in the “junior high field”.
Trudy loved the outdoors during every season, valued life-long learning and found comfort in her faith and would quietly hope others could as well. A Mass will be said at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 11am, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
