In Taunton, Richard D. Medeiros, age 82, passed away at Morton Hospital unexpectedly following a period of declining health on December 19, 2022. Richard is survived by his wife Phyllis (Garon) Medeiros of Taunton. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Horace & Emma (Rogers) Medeiros.
Richard resided most of his life in Taunton. He attended Taunton schools and graduated from Stonehill College with his master’s degree. Richard worked for the City of Taunton as a police officer and served his country honorably for over 30 years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Richard enjoyed boating, fishing, quahogging, jet skiing, and spending time with family.
In addition to his wife Phyllis, Richard leaves his beloved daughter Patricia Amaral of Taunton, and his late children, Richard S. Medeiros and Lori Sergio. He also leaves his grandchildren, Kasi Amaral, Thomas Sergio, and Wendy Medeiros all of Taunton and great grandchildren, Michael and Ava. Richard is survived by his siblings, Linda Saxon of Taunton, Gordon Medeiros of Plymouth, and the late Horace Medeiros. Uncle of Debbie and Diane
Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Wednesday at 10am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Tuesday from 5-7pm. Burial will be in the family lot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
