Richard P. Farias, age 67, of Mansfield, formerly of Somerset, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Farias) Farias, to whom he was wed for forty-five years.
Born in Fall River, MA on April 28, 1955, he was a loving son of the late Manuel and Marianne (Machado) Farias.
Rick grew up in Fall River and was a 1973 graduate of Durfee High School. He continued his education, graduating in 1977 from Southeastern Massachusetts University with a bachelor’s degree and later earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Bryant College.
Richard worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Following a career that spanned thirty-five years, he retired with the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Rick had made his home in Mansfield for the past thirteen years and was a former thirty years resident of Somerset. His family was the essence of his life and he was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield. Rick’s hobbies included traveling, taking long walks, playing golf and a passion for horse racing.
In addition to his beloved wife Janet, he is survived by his devoted sons: Derek Farias and his wife Beth of North Attleboro and Ryan Farias and his husband Kirk Curtis of Astoria, NY, He was the proud and cherished Papa of Luke and Hayley Farias. He was the dear brother of Anne Cannon and her husband Frank of Garner, NC, Jeff Farias and his wife June of Andover, KS and Judy Trasko and her husband Darrell of Fuquay-Varina, NC. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 27th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers. Richard’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 70 Walnut Street, Suite 301, Wellesley, MA 02841.
Those attending Richard’s visiting hours and funeral service are required to wear facial coverings.
