Obituary

Sheila C. (DeVita) Tallent, age 84, former longtime Tewksbury resident, most recently of Kennebunk, Maine, died peacefully with her family nearby at D'youville Senior Care, Lowell, MA.

Born to George and Hazel Cassidy in Lowell, MA on August 5th, 1938. She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew M. DeVita for 27 years and the late Herbert Tallent for 26 years. She was predeceased by her son, Michael A. DeVita, her grandson Matthew Joseph DeVita, and her stepson Gregory Tallent.

Sheila is survived by her children; daughter Donna DeVita Powers and her husband Edward, her daughter Sandra Anderson, and her husband Wayne, her son Andrew and his wife Colleen, and her daughter Diane Donaldson and her husband Todd; her extended family Linda Tallent and Jay Perry and Bill and Robin Tallent. She also leaves many grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammy; Brian and Emily Powers, James and Caitlin Powers, Tim and Nicole Powers, Heidi and Chris Fitzpatrick, Jeff and Sasha Anderson, Nick and Nicola DeVita, Tom DeVita and fiancé Rachael David, Kristen and Alex Bordonaro, Andrew, Nathan and Rachel Donaldson, Kenny Perry, Connie and Enrico Innocenti. Her great grandchildren; Evangeline and Declan Powers, Landon Powers, Austin and Siena Fitzpatrick, Henry Anderson and Joseph Bordonaro.

Sheila raised her 5 children in Tewksbury where so many fond memories were made. She eventually went to work at Unysis as a receptionist/Office Manager and made many friends, working there for about 15 years. After retiring, she enjoyed annual vacations in Florida and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Sheila loved people and had a special way of connecting with each of them, making them feel like family to her. She shared her homes and always made each person feel welcome. She had a very caring nature and took an interest in other's well-being. Her counsel and guidance will be sorely missed, but her advice and life lessons will carry on.

Calling hours are Tuesday, December 20, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, MA. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, December 21 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment will take place at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to your charity of choice.
