Joanne L. (Grantham) Gomes, 55, died December 15, 2022, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Joyce L. (Cruz) Grantham, Joanne was the proprietor of Aly-Nics restaurant and Tony’s Auto Body with her former husband, Antonio Gomes.
Joanne was an exemplary, loving, honest individual who would drop anything in a time of need to assist her loved ones in any way she could. She was a living, breathing representation of “a breath of fresh air” and was beautiful inside and out.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved the companionship of animals. Some of her many talents included cooking, writing, reading, and making people laugh. She enjoyed being charitable, donating monthly to Saint Jude’s Children Hospital and always providing a family or two in need with gifts during the holidays.
Joanne loved the smell of lilacs and daffodils were most beautiful to her. She preferred living in the countryside with beautiful views of nature. She also enjoyed traveling and vacationing on cruises.
Joanne wished her brain and spinal cord to be donated to Multiple Sclerosis research and her body to be cremated.
Joanne leaves her memories to be cherished by her two daughters, Ariana Gomes and Alysha Gomes with fiancé Corey Hill, two grandchildren, Kolt and Kora Hill, her former husband, Antonio Gomes, her sister, Jodi Grantham, several nieces and nephews, and other beloved family members and friends. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.
Joanne’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 27th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
