Obituary

Philip M. Davis, 75 years old, a lifelong resident of Whitman passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Carol Botieri Davis. He was the loving father of Dawn Arseneau of Whitman, Lisa and husband Robert Quirk of East Bridgewater, Julie Kailher of Whitman and his loving son, Lucian Kailher. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Corey Arseneau and his fiance Christianna Allen, Colin and Ryleigh Arseneau, Nathan and Aidan Quirk. Philip was the son of the late Alice Horte Davis of Whitman and brother of Barbara Baines of Florida. He also left behind devoted sister and brother in-laws, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him.

Philip grew up in Whitman, Ma, graduating from Whitman High School in 1965. After graduation Philip joined the US Navy and served his country from 1965-1972. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and member of the Whitman VFW. Following his years in the service he became a career tradesman working for the US government as a licensed electrician. He ended his lifelong career retiring from Otis Air Force Base.

In his early years, Philip had a passion for motorcycle racing, where he acquired the nickname of “Fast Phil”. He was an avid boater and lifelong fisherman. Chances are you could find him fishing at the Cape Cod Canal, camping at Bourne Scenic Park, Miles Standish and spending weekends driving on Sandy Neck Beach with his family. He had a love for dogs, especially his Labs. But most of all he loved spending time with family and friends and reminiscing about his Navy stories and the time he spent stationed in Hawaii. He was also known for his dry but witty sense of humor. His sincere love and appreciation for his nurses and doctors did not go unnoticed. Phil was truly a jack of all trades with a toolbox by his side at all times. There was nothing he couldn’t fix….his go to quote was “If you can’t fix it with duct tape, it can’t be fixed!”

During his retirement he was blessed with quality time to spend with his youngest grandson “his boy” Luke. He taught him everything he knows about fishing, boating, yardwork, fixing things and even remodeling his apartments he owned. One of his proudest achievements was raising “his boy”!

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 20th in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) in Whitman, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM with a prayer service immediately following. Private military burial will be scheduled at a later date at the Mass National Cemetery.
