John P. Larney, Jr., 78, of Bellingham, Mass. passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022, with his family by his side.
Born on March 31, 1944, in Jersey City, New Jersey he was the son of the late John P. Larney, Sr. and Juliana (Schaefer) Larney.
He is survived by his second wife Paula Kairit and his three children, John P. Larney, III of Franklin, Erin Themig and her husband Ryan of Littleton, Colorado, and Tom Larney of Newton, Mass. Additionally he is survived by his grandchildren, Alexandra and Tyler Themig who he loved immensely. In addition he is survived by his three sisters, Mary Daun of Illinois, Frances Neuwirth and her husband Steph of Florida, and Juliana Farrell and her husband Tom of Pennsylvania. He was the brother-in-law of the late Dennis Daun.
John spent his childhood in the Elmhurst neighborhood of Queens, New York. At age 13 the family moved to East Stroudsburg, PA where he lived until graduating from Pocono Township High School in 1961.
John enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served in the Vietnam War, and fulfilled his service as an electronic specialist on board the U.S.S. Brush. He married his first wife Marion in 1964. Together they explored the country through moves for John’s employment with IBM and Raytheon including time in Vancouver, British Columbia. They settled their family in Medway, Mass in 1977 where John remained a Medway resident for 43 years.
In 1990 John became a residential real estate agent and in 2017 he became the Massachusetts State Quartermaster at Veterans of Foreign Wars. In 2020 he married his wife Paula with whom he enjoyed dinners out, the Boston Pops, & traveling together.

His funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
