Alfred E. “Al” Cote, Jr., 86, died peacefully on December 14, 2022 after a long illness from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born in North Conway, NH, on September 24, 1936, the son of the late Alfred E. Cote, Sr. and Irene M. (Guyette) Cote. Al spent his earlier years in Bartlett, NH, and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1954. He was a longtime resident of Natick. A lifelong Democrat, he spent many hours working the polls in Natick and served as a former Natick Town Meeting member. He was the owner and a founder of Olympic Manufacturing in Natick before retirement.
Al leaves behind his devoted wife of 25 years, Frances H. (Hughes) Cote of Natick. He was the beloved father of Andrea Wood and her husband Ron of Westminster, SC; Gerry Cote of Natick; Suzanne Nadeau and her husband Ken of Bellingham; Daniel Cote of Natick; Ted Cote and his wife Kathy of Framingham; and the late David Cote. He was the caring step-father of Tara Whitney, and her husband Mark of Newfields, NH and Paul Zicuis and his wife Ariel of Tampa, FL. Brother of Wilfred Cote of Weston, ME, and Brenda Whitney of Waterville, ME. He was the husband of the late Willene (McEwen) Cote, who died in 1983. He leaves 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He also leaves behind his close friends Ruth Abbott of North Conway, NH, and Roger Burdwood of Seattle, WA and his loving cat Fred.
Al loved hiking in the Mount Washington area, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the beach in Narragansett, RI. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved baseball. He was a good friend to many and devoted to his wife and family.
Visitations will take place on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Graveside services will take place at the Cote family lot in Dell Park Cemetery, 163 Pond Street, Natick, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 am.
