Derrick A. Smith, age 39 of Taunton, MA passed away unexpectedly on Friday December 9, 2022. He was raised in Holbrook, MA the son of Sharon L. Smith of Taunton, MA and the late Donald P. Smith Jr. of Holbrook. Father of Aiden Smith of Plymouth, MA. Brother of Melissa (Smith) Hennessey and her husband Richard of Rockland, MA & Jennifer (Smith) Van of Holbrook, MA. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as aunts and uncles.
Derrick worked in construction at Riley Brothers and was also a laborer and asphalted at T&K Paving. He worked most recently as a heavy equipment operator and asphalted at US Pavement of Woburn.
Derrick loved to go fishing with his son Aiden and was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots & Celtics as well as Disc Golf.
He was a loving and caring person and a friend to many. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help people.
