Tommy Spivey, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 1 PM, Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. The family will greet friends following the services at the cemetery.
Mr. Spivey was born December 7, 1944, in Atkinson County, Georgia, to the late Otis & Berta Mae Smith Spivey. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Yorktown. Mr. Spivey was in farm equipment sales for 23 years, owned and operated H & S Farm Equipment and co-owned and operated Storage Express with his son. Mr. Spivey loved spending time with his family, especially his great-granddaughter. He also enjoyed traveling. He was a member of Arp Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Davis Spivey of Fitzgerald; a son, David & Lisa Evans of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: David M. “Dave” Evans, Jr. & Mary Brett of Sarasota, Florida and Jake Evans & Charli of Lake Blackshear and their daughter, Brooklyn Love Evans; two brothers: Chuck Spivey of Douglas and Keith Spivey of Douglas; three sisters: Betty Spivey Boatwright of Douglas, Sherry Evans of Douglas and Linda Criswell & Frank of Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Latrelle Easom and two brothers: Wayne Spivey and Jimmy Spivey.
The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the compassionate care and attention given to Mr. Spivey by the staff of Bethany Hospice as well as his sister, Linda, over the past few weeks.
