AGAWAM – Arthur J. “Art” Hansel, 76, of Agawam and a longtime resident of Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 15, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on October 28, 1946, a beloved son of the late Fritz and Yvette (Lizotte) Hansel. He was raised and educated in Ludlow and moved to Agawam in 2011. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Airman Basic. He was a long-haul tractor trailer driver for the Matlock Trucking Company which was based out of Texas. Art was a 30 year member of the Quaboag Riders Motorcycling Club. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wives, Annie (Boots) Hansel and Barbara (Montanaro) Hansel. He leaves his son, Kristopher Hansel; his cherished granddaughter, Elise Hansel; his dear sister, Paula M. LaFountain and her husband, Robert, of Abbeville, AL; his loving and devoted niece, Michele C. Lacroix of Agawam; his two loving nephews, Robert LaFountain and his wife, Mary, and Scott Lafountain, all of New York; his longtime companion, Linda Linderman of Agawam; and his many dear grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, numerous friends, and extended family members. His funeral services and burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
