Obituary

Larry Lupe Castro, 61, of Ventura, was welcomed home by our loving heavenly Father on November 4, 2022 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his loving wife and children by his side.
Larry Castro was born on April 18, 1961 to Raymond and Patricia Castro in Ventura, California. He was the third oldest of eight children and grew up in downtown Ventura. In 1989, Larry met Lisa Loya while “shopping for sunglasses” at the store where Lisa worked. Larry would go to the same store every day to talk with Lisa and they soon began dating and later wed on July 6, 1991 at South Coast Fellowship Church in Ventura. Larry began working at the age of 18 where his first job was at Bell Mattress Factory and later he worked for South Coast Fellowship for about 26 years. He loved to show visitors around the
church and took pride in caring for what he and his family would call “home.” He later became licensed as a pest control tech while he worked for his cousin Mark at 101 Pest Control. His last job was for the County of Ventura in the GSA Department. He was a hard-worker for his family and made sure they
always had what they needed. Larry and Lisa have five sons, one daughter who he called his “Angel”, as well as one who he is now reunited with in Heaven. Larry and Lisa were married for 31 beautiful years and cherished each other deeply. Larry always made sure Lisa knew how much he loved her. He would always tell her “Two shall be One” and would always remind her since the day they made their wedding vows.
Larry loved his church family and attended Ventura Missionary Church and New Season Church of Ventura before he received his heart transplant and loved to watch the services online after. He was a hard worker and would always find a way to make you laugh and loved to show hospitality to anyone he came across. He loved spending time with his “Framily” and to have family BBQs and game nights. He would always make sure that someone would take pictures so he could cherish every memory. He loved watching sports with his sons and loved being able to coach his sons Elijah and Zechariah and their friends at West Park Community Center where he also grew up. His favorite sports teams were the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Dolphins. He was tremendously proud of his children and being able to see them all graduate, as well as all of their accomplishments. He would always tell people how two of his sons were paramedics, one was a pastor, and his daughter was a nurse. (In reality, it was EMTs, youth leader, and phlebotomist, all of which he was equally proud of.) He would tell everyone about his family and everything they did. He also loved to play with his Grandkids and would get down on his knees so they could play together. He loved to sing songs, play games, give gifts and give them treats, but most of all, he loved to make them laugh. He was also affectionately known as "Grampy Wonka" because of how much he loved to give his Grandkids treats.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Lisa Castro, and their children: Robert (Bailey), Isaiah (Marina), Angeline, Elijah, Zechariah, and Jeremiah. And grandchildren: Isabella, Avery, Joshua, Riley, and Gianna. As well as: Brothers, Sisters, In-laws, numerous family members, and friends. Larry is remembered as a loving Husband, Father, Grampy, Brother, Uncle, Brother-in-law, Son-in-law, and Friend. He is greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Ventura Missionary Church located at 500 High Point Dr. in Ventura, CA at 2pm with Pastors Doug Colby and Rafael Robles officiating.
A Reception will follow the Celebration and all are welcome to attend. Flowers may be delivered to the church prior to the service at 10 am.
Feel free to wear Lakers or Miami Dolphins attire! Larry’s family would like to thank everyone who donated their finances, time, love, and prayers.
