John B. Antosca, 81

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

John B. Antosca, age 81, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Wilma J. (Albertini) Antosca, to whom he was wed on July 4, 1963.

Born in Attleboro, MA on October 15, 1941, he was a loving son of the late Louis G. and Rose V. (Cataloni) Antosca.

John grew up in Town and was a 1959 graduate of Mansfield High School, where he was a standout athlete. He continued his education, graduating from Vermont Academy and had also attended Boston College.

Prior to retiring, John had been employed for thirty-four years as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Bristol Meyers Squibb.

A devout Catholic, John was a lifelong communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, where he had also served as a Eucharistic Minister. At Saint Mary’s Church, the Rose Garden, which was built by John’s late father Louis, along with two fellow parishioners whose three wives all shared the first name of Rose, was named in these women’s honor and is still actively used by many groups for various functions today.

John’s family was the focal point and essence of his life. When younger, he served as a Pop Warner football coach and was always an avid college football fan. Along with his wife Wilma, they enjoyed traveling and playing golf.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Leah McEvoy and her husband Matt of Wrentham, Susan Antosca and her husband Mal Bruce of Chelsea, Annmarie Calabro and her husband Brian of Weymouth, Kathy Antosca of Taunton, Kathy’s former husband Jay Thompson and David Antosca and his wife Suzanne of Norton. He was the cherished grandfather of Nick, Ben, Brett, Justin, Luke, Morgan, Jake, the late Dan McEvoy and the great grandfather of Eli. He was the dear brother of Theresa “Tess” Teague and her husband Andy of Canton and Louise “Weezie” Couture and her husband Bill of Mansfield. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, December 19th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
