Vittorio S. Grossi, age 79, of Somerville passed away on Monday, December 12th. Born and raised in Villalago, Italy, he was the son of the late Panfilo and Concetta (Caputi) Grossi. Vittorio immigrated to the U.S. in 1962, settling first in Boston’s North End before moving to Somerville many years ago. He was employed as a Maitre D' at several major establishments around Boston. Vittorio was a free spirit. He loved his family and friends, good food and good wine. He was charming, always impeccably dressed and a friend to all.
Vittorio was the dear brother of Mario Grossi and his wife Maria of Somerville, Emilia Lupi of Italy and her late husband Francesco, the late Florido Grossi and his surviving wife Alba of Italy, and the late Antonio Grossi and his surviving wife Ilda of Somerville. He was the God Father and uncle of Deborah Luciano of North Reading, and the uncle of Maria Serrentino of Tewksbury, Panfilo Grossi of Andover, Alfredo Grossi and his wife Anitra of Stoneham, Jesse Grossi of Somerville, Loredana Lupi and Luisa Lupi, both of Italy. Vittorio is also survived by many loving great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Thursday, December 15th at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 9:30 through 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Vittorio’s family has requested that flowers be omitted.
