Obituary

Herman R. Summers, 76, of Anderson, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Community Hospital in Anderson after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born on June 1, 1946 in Anderson, the son of Hershel V. and Letha (Abston) Summers. Herman graduated in 1964 from Highland High School, followed by Ball State University, and served in the US Army during Vietnam War.

Herman was employed by Delco Remy Division of General Motors for 30 years and also worked as a tax preparer for 32 years. He attended Parkview Wesleyan Church and his memberships included UAW 662, and American Legion Post 127. Herman volunteered with Contact Help, the United Way, and Indy Honor Flight.

He is survived by his wife Martha “Beverly” (Howells) Summers, whom he married November 21, 1965; children, Jodie (Clint) Hall, Melinda (Bill) Richardson, Shaun (Amanda) Summers, Annie Keller; nine grandchildren, Susan (Momi) Vaknin, Julia (Danyella Lozano) Williamson, Conner Hobbs, Taylor (Rex Buckley) Hobbs, Gavin Richardson, Zachariah Summers, Shelby Summers, Kimber Summers, Olivia Hall; five great grandchildren, Netanel Vaknin, Hila Vaknin, Noa Vaknin, Jaxson Summers, Hudson Summers; nephew, Brent (Krystal) Summers and family.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerald Summers, and grandchild, Waylon.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 12 Noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and also on Saturday, one hour prior to the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
