Elizabeth Lamb Clark, 90, of Wellesley, MA passed away November 30, 2022, after a heart attack and various age-related illnesses.
Elizabeth was born February 24, 1932, in Boston, to Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Lamb. She graduated high school from The Winsor School for girls in Brookline MA and entered Northwestern University in Illinois. In 1950, she left school after one year to marry Francis Barnum Jr., a noted Boston-area physician.
Dr. Barnum died in 1968, and she married Grenville Clark Jr., a Boston investment adviser, in 1972.
After her children were grown, Elizabeth finished her undergraduate degree at age at Wellesley College, graduating cum laude in 1987. She went on to get a master’s degree in art history from Boston University and then a PhD from City University of New York.
She then pursued a career consulting on early American portraiture to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, as well as other museums throughout the northeastern United States. She retired in 2000.
Her daughter Elizabeth Rose passed away in 2007, and Elizabeth is survived by her son William Barnum.
Graveside service will be held in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Brookline on Tuesday, December 13, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
