Charles “Wayne” Driskell, 77, of Tifton passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at his residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Driskell at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest. Brother Virgil Johnson and the Rev. Bobby Pittman will officiate.
Born December 12, 1944, in Ocilla, Mr. Driskell was the son of the late Dawson Wallace Driskell and Floell Banks Driskell. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Aaron Wallace Driskell. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1963. Before retiring, he was owner and operator, along with his wife, of Driskell Electric Company and, during his later years, he was a Baptist minister. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Tift County. Mr. Driskell enjoyed having prayer with his prayer partners. He was a man of one book, The 1611 KJV Bible. He would share God’s word at anytime and with anyone who was willing to listen or needed some encouragement. He always had church on his mind to help further the kingdom. If you were a child of God, he considered you a brother or sister in Christ.
Mr. Driskell is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann (Stone) Driskell of Tifton; one son, Braxton Wayne Driskell of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Paul Moyer of Tifton; one sister-in-law, Loretta Faye Hickman of Tifton; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Palliative Care, Hospice of Tift Area, churches, friends and family that had him on your prayer list and for all the phone calls, visits and food during the time and care of Mr. Driskell.
