Maureen A. Burns, 86, of Franklin, Massachusetts died peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul F. Burns for 61 years until his passing in 2019.
Born in Montreal on February 14, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret [Conheeney] Donlon.
Mrs. Burns was a resident of Franklin since 1963. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Montreal and Northeastern University and Leslie College.
She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Parish in Medway and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas where she was named Massachusetts ‘Unsung Hero’ for her many silent charitable gestures and generous spirit.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Burns was Director of Personnel at the Waltham Weston Hospital and Medical Center.
Mrs. Burns loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Paul Burns, Jr. of Franklin and his partner Ann Mills, and two daughters Anne Marie (James) Blackman of Killington, Vermont and Oldsmar, Florida, and Maureen Elizabeth “Beth” Burns of Franklin.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Connor, Erin, and Devin Burns and Colton and Austin Blackman, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving husband Paul F. Burns, Sr. and her sister Elizabeth Murphy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, 1 Church Square in Franklin at 11 a.m. on December 13, 2022. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
