BURNS, ANNE C. of Jamaica Plain passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022. Loving daughter of the late William J. and Martha M. (Collins) Burns. Cherished sister of the late Edward G. Burns and his wife Patricia. Devoted aunt of William Burns of Norwood, the late Stephen Burns and his surviving wife Dana of Norfolk, David Burns and his wife Lori of Mansfield, Paula Burns of Walpole, Christine Doyle of Foxboro and Patty Kaplan and her husband Dave of Maine. She was pre-deceased by many aunts and uncles. Also survived by her many great nieces and nephews and extended family members in the U.S. and Canada.
At an early age, Anne aspired to a career in nursing. She worked hard becoming a registered nurse, attending Boston City Hospital School of Nursing, later becoming an instructor in the program. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College and a Masters in Nursing Rehabilitation from Boston University. Anne’s long career spanned teaching, nursing, as well as directing the outpatient treatment program for brain tumor patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She was dedicated to her profession, patients and students. Anne will also be remembered for always extending a warm welcome to friends and extended family when they visited her and her mother, Martha, at their homes in Jamaica Plain and Cape Cod.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Anne’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 14 Montebello Road, Jamaica Plain at 10:00 a.m. Burial Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center, 350 S. Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130 (MSPCA.org).
