Phyllis N. Upham, 99

Phyllis N Upham, age 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born in Taunton MA October 22, 1923, Phyllis graduated from Taunton High School and worked at Evans Case where she met the love of her life, the late Norman E Upham. They were married for 47 years. Phyllis and her late husband settled in North Attleboro until 1982 and then moved to Onset Ma where she lived until 2015.
Phyllis is survived by her three children: N. Jeanne McLaughlin and her husband Brian of Easton, Richard P Upham and his husband Dave of Peabody and Leslie N Fleming of Plainville. She also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
When Phyllis lived in North Attleboro, she was a communicant of Grace Episcopal church where she taught Sunday school. She also belonged to several clubs that included Kalmere Club (where she modeled for Miller’s Dept Store), The Eastern Star and the local garden club. She also owned a real estate company with her husband and a bakery in downtown Wareham.
Upon leaving North Attleboro and moving to Onset, Phyllis joined the Red Hat Society, The Wareham Garden Club (where she won several blue ribbons), The Tobey Guild and The Church of the Good Shepherd.
Phyllis loved to work in her gardens, enjoyed travelling, reading, playing cards, boating, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She always had a project going whether it was making braided rugs, sewing, knitting, or canning such things as relish and jelly. Later in her life she became first mate for her husband on the “Pocket” which they travelled up and down the east coast to Florida.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 74 High St., Wareham, MA on Tuesday, January 10th at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to “Southcoast Health Ambassadors/Tobey Hospital”, 43 High St., Wareham, MA 02571.
