Judith Alice Burrill (Dudley) formerly of Dartmouth, MA, departed her earthly life peacefully and surrounded by family on October 16, 2022 at the age of 77. Judith was born on January 15, 1945 to Dorothy Holt Setterlund and John Dudley in Taunton, MA, and was the older sister of Jack, Charles and William.
She is survived by her four children Mary, Richard, Stephen and Timothy, as well as her brothers Charles and William, nieces and nephews Michele, Julia, William and Madelyn, great nieces Chloe and Isabella, grandchildren Meryl, Amy, Rachel, Stephen, Connor, Lauren, Samantha, and Abraham, great grandchildren Evelyn, Ross and Callum, some extended family, and cherished life long friends. Judith was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy, her father John, her brother Jack, and much loved aunts and uncles.
Judith lovingly raised her children, and extended her love and care to all of the children in her family. She took pride in being a lifelong learner, was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling, studying, politics and football. She was known for being a fierce protector of her family and animals, standing up for what she felt was right, and her quick wit. She had many beloved cats and dogs over the years, and found happiness in living by the ocean and walking. Affectionately called Candy by her grandchildren, and Queenie by her brother Chuck, Judith had a way of connecting with those around her - and leaving a lasting impression. In the final chapter of her life and despite her declining health, she took great care to bring happiness to those around her.
On Friday, December 9 at 11am, a service for friends and family will be held at Church of the Good Shepherd, 74 High St, Wareham, MA 02571. Following the service, all are welcome to lunch at Vel’s Restaurant, 2352 Cranberry Hwy, West Wareham, MA 02576.
A celebration of life will be held Spring 2023 (exact date and location to be announced), in accordance with Judith's wish for all who loved her, to get together in happiness rather than sorrow.
