Obituary

Norma May (Colquhoun) Gallimore of Brockton, age 82, died peacefully on November 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Samuel Prospect, Trelawny, Jamaica, West Indies. Norma was the daughter of the late Albert Colquhoun and Muriel White.

Norma was educated in Jamaica and was a graduate of Brompton and Duncans Elementary Schools. An industrious woman, she sought gainful employment to take care of herself and her family. She was a hard worker who was employed at Silver Sands Resort in Duncans, Trelawny, Discovery Bay, St. Ann and Toronto, Canada and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Norma married the love of her life Weston Gallimore and was a dedicated and devoted wife to Weston until her death. They had seven wonderful children to care for. She was a devoted Christian and a longtime and faithful member of the Samuel Prospect New Testament Church in Trelawny and Stoughton Street New Testament Church in Dorchester, MA.

“Sis Gallimore”, as she was affectionately known, was an excellent childcare provider. She enjoyed providing a safe and healthy environment for the children she cared for each day while their parents were at work. She was also a very giving person who took delight in feeding, protecting, and caring for the children in her care.

She took great please in cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and decorating bathroom towels. She was a superb and outstanding seamstress who created and sewed her own clothes.

Norma is survived by a loving husband of 62 years Weston Gallimore, her mother Muriel Samuels of Jamaica, her children: Opal Segree of Toronto, Canada; Victor Richards of Jamaica; Levi Gallimore of Jamaica; Phillip Gallimore of Jamaica; Charmain Walters of Brockton and Willard Gallimore of Boston. She was also the mother of the late Micahael Lopez. Norma was the sister of Joseph Samuels, Charles Samuels, Pablo Samuels and the late Hillman Samuels, Veronica Cousins, Yvonne Mitchell, Gloria Benjamin, Darlene Holman and the late Lydia Decambre. She was the loving grandmother of 38 grandchildren and the late Matthew Stanbury. She was the great-grandmother of 48 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sons-in law, daughters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, her church family and friends to mourn her loss.

Visitation will be held at the Church on the Rock, 421 Torrey Street, Brockton on Friday, December 9, from 9-10am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
