Adelina F. Gilardez, 86, of Worcester, Massachusetts, died at UMASS hospital on Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was born in Manila, Philippines, on August 14, 1936, to the late Candido Patricio Fuentes and Florencia Mahinay Fuentes. Adelina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Miguel, and sisters Alicia Fuentes and Yolanda Fuentes.
Adelina is survived by her eight (8) children (4 sons & 4 daughters), seventeen (17) grandchildren, and eleven (11) great-grandchildren, Federico Fuentes Gilardez (son) and his wife Georgia Gilardez and their children Geoffrey Gilardez (children: Liana, Brielle, Kennedy, and Mila) and Melissa Espino (children: Arianna and Giovanni), Efren Fuentes Gilardez (son) and his wife Lucilyn Gilardez and their children Joshua and Zythel Gilardez, Concepcion Gilardez Kobashi (daughter) and her husband Yo Kobashi and child Conashi Kobashi, Victoria Gilardez Celucia (daughter) and her husband Reynaldo Celucia and their children Mouli Julianne Celucia (children: Cazri Joces and Caerus Jade Famorcan), Glenn Celucia (children: Saria Vyen & Drake Harvy), Genesis and Joshua Celucia, Lolita Gilardez-Kawai (daughter) and her children Mika Kawai and Koko Nagoshi-Gilardez, Ricardo Fuentes Gilardez (son) and his partner Jackie Wade and child Kevin, Edgar Fuentes Gilardez (son) and his wife Maria Clarissa Lacastesantos Gilardez and their children Edrissa Claine Gilardez (child: Louis Santiago), Rietzl, Cedrick and Florence Gilardez and Jacqueline Fuentes Gilardez (daughter) and her child Rey Miguel Gilardez.
Adelina was well-loved and was a strong and very brave woman throughout her life with whatever hurdles came her way. Everyone who knew her felt her big heart and giving nature. She loved music, arts, and entertainment. In addition, Adelina was a creative woman and great at dressmaking.
The family would like to thank UMASS hospital, the nurses, and the doctors for their compassionate care during their Mom's hospitalization. They also want to thank all the family members and friends for their support and prayers. Also, the family would like to thank Father Madden and give special thanks to the Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022,, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA. Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
