Obituary

GRISWOLD, CT – Jonathan Robert Grover, 32, died Monday, December 5, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his family by his side after a short but valiant fight with cancer.

He leaves behind his wife of 7 years, Bianca (Murphy) Grover; 2 daughters, Natalie, age 3, and Madison, age 8 months; his parents, Stephen and Deborah (Watts) Grover of Webster, MA; his mother-in-law, Renee Murphy of Ludlow, MA; his maternal grandmother, Daisy (Trester) Watts of Lawrenceburg, IN; a sister, Heather Shane and her husband Bryan of Plainville, CT; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends he considered family. He also leaves his beloved dog Hunter.

Jon was born on December 19, 1989 in Worcester, MA and raised in Webster, MA. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 2008 where he played the saxophone, was a member of the varsity tennis team, and attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Thompson, CT Boy Scout Troop 66.

In 2012, Jon was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering from Western New England University and in 2018, he earned a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Jon was an accomplished software engineer and supervisor for General Dynamics Electric Boat Company in Groton, CT, where he worked for the last 10 years.

Jon enjoyed playing golf and video games with friends and building with wood and resin. He could find humor, even during difficult times and always took care of others. More than anything, Jon’s life centered around his family, especially his girls. He loved them with all his heart. Jon’s most cherished titles were husband and father. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA, with a time of remembrance service beginning at 3:30 PM. A celebration of his life will follow at Point Breeze Restaurant, 114 Point Breeze Road, Webster, MA, beginning at 4:30 PM. Burial will be held Monday, December 12, 11:30 AM at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 55 Worcester Rd, Webster, MA. Donations may be made to gofund.me/D3197BF8 for the benefit of his daughters.
