We are sad to announce the passing of Michael P. Connarton of Everett, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the age of 69.
He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Connarton) Gilreath of whom they shared a lifetime of birthdays. Proud Grandfather to Teegan, Caetryn, and Brynach Gilreath of Lowell.
Michael was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 2, 1953, a son of the late Edward T. Connarton and Ruth M. (Frampton) Connarton. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Monaco and her husband Tom of Peabody, as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is predeceased recently of his sister Mary Burgess and her husband Frank Burgess of Peabody.
Michael grew up in Charlestown and was educated at St Francis De Sales Parochial School. He was a retired Massport Authority Heavy Equipment Operator who spent many years on the Tobin Bridge before moving to Hanscom Air Force Base. Mike was a longtime member of the Cronin Club of Charlestown, The Old Charlestown School Boys Association and the Somerville City Club.
Michael was a bold “Townie” growing up on Chappie St, wreaking havoc on the hill at times in the 60's. If you knew Michael, you always knew where you stood. He was never abashed to share his love or disdain for any individual. If you called, he showed up, and at times, complained if it was too early. He loved to fish, hunt, and get a good tan. He also enjoyed boating and striper fishing in Boston Harbor with close family friends. North Woodstock and Hampton Beach, New Hampshire were favorite vacation destinations in his golden years. He loved fast cars, the NHRA, NASCAR and going to the track and watching his friends race in New Hampshire. Michael loved a good cup of coffee and a newspaper to start every day.
Michael loved everything Irish, including his Grand-dogs Brady and Murphy. Michael spent many days in Belvidere on the patio with them.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Michael's visiting hours on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4 to 8 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Funeral Services and burial will be private.
The family kindly asks that you celebrate his life by attending his services wearing his favorite color of green.
