WORCESTER - Mrs. Alice H. (Haddad) Esper passed away peacefully on Sunday December 4th with her loving family by her side at Beaumont Rehab in Westboro.
Alice was born in Worcester and was one of nine children of Kantos and Sophie ( Kayot) Haddad. She was the loving wife to the late Amen Esper Jr. whom she lost in 2005.
A lifelong resident, Alice was educated through the Worcester schools. She worked for over twenty-five years for the Worcester Girls Club Inc. as the office manager.
Alice was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Worcester.
Those who knew Alice were treated to a warm heart and generous hospitality. The snacks were laid out, the cards were shuffled, and coffee was always on. Her infectious laugh and quick wit shined the brightest light in any room she was in. She cherished the times with her late husband Amen Jr and purposely filled her days to spend time with family and friends. “Family comes first” was not just an expression to Alice; it was a lifestyle. Her eyes lit up like Christmas morning whenever her grandchildren and great grandchildren visited. It was often suspected she “broke” the television intentionally so one of them would come to her beck and call. She’d never turned down a trip to the casino, winning the Tuesday night bingo coverall or rolling 10 frames with friends. Alice proudly held her head high and would want to be remembered as someone who never forgot her roots. Memory eternal our auntie, our cousin, our sittoo, our mom.
The family would like to thank the loving and kind staff and the amazing hospice team of Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center of Westboro. They were Alice’s angels.
Alice is survived by her three children, Sharon Dowd and her husband Richard Sr., Patricia Esper, and Joseph Esper; five grandchildren, Nicholas Dowd, Richard Dowd Jr., Anthony Esper and his wife Diana, Geoffrey Esper and Amy Donais; also, her great grandchildren, Amen, Kassie and Paige; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, December 8th, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton Street, Worcester from 10:00 am to 11:00am. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, donations may be made in Alice’s honor to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church or to the Worcester County Shriner Club, 560 Chocolog Rd. Uxbridge, Ma. 01569.
