Mrs. Phyllis A. (Westover) Furey, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved wife of the late John P. Furey. Passed away peacefully at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Methuen on Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2022. She was 93 years old.
Born in North Troy, Vermont, she was the beloved daughter of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Maidment) Westover.
Phyllis was employed at the Andover High School, working in the cafeteria, for many years. She received the “Unsung Hero Award” by the students two times during her career. Phyllis was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving children; Michael J. and his wife Carolyn K. Furey of Methuen, Dennis C. and his wife Janice R. Furey of Andover and Patricia A. and her husband Ernest A. Croteau of Andover, sisters; Linda Dow of Florida, Judy Canuel of Derry, New Hampshire, Shirley Lafave of Lawrence and Norma Lunardo of Woburn, grandchildren; Lori Yirrell (Furey) and husband Bob, Jodi Furey, Jeffrey Croteau, Joseph Furey and wife Katrina, Shawn Furey and wife Emily, Kimberly Croteau, Brittany Hanafin (Furey) and husband Steven, and John Croteau. great-grandchildren; Joey, Makena, Rowan, Easton, Gabriel, MacKenzie, Michael, Mia and Morgan. and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Leonard Westover and Ruth Glynn.
Animals were such a huge part of Phyllis’s life. She loved her three dogs who were her constant companions Sophie, Marley and Sierra.
