New Bedford – Maria I. (Silva) Amaral, age 80, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joao Amaral.
Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores to the late Ernesto Silva and Eufrosina (Enoia) Silva. She had worked at Kyler’s Seafood for many years. She loved to cook, spend time with her family, especially her granddaughter, who was her pride and joy and loved to shop. She had been a Catechism teacher in the Azores and her faith meant everything to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Lopes and her husband Frederick Lopes; granddaughter, Haven B. Lopes and her siblings, Cesar Silva and Jose Silva. She is also survived by lots of nieces and nephews, whom she loved.
She was also the mother of the late Debra Amaral and sister of the late Sacramento Amaral, Ernesto Silva, Dennis Silva, Avelino Silva.
Maria’s visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Perry Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Her funeral will take place Monday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
