Cheryl B. Lopes, 70, of Fall River passed away Friday December 2, 2022 at home after a long illness.
Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” and Mary “Mae” (Pina) Gomes, she lived in Fall River for most of her life.
Cheryl was formerly employed at St. Vincent’s Home in Fall River as part of the juvenile support staff until her retirement. She loved working with her youth clients and helping them in the community. She had also previously worked at Bridgewater State Hospital.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who had a beautiful heart. She was active for many years in local and national politics.
Cheryl was a graduate of Bristol Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
She is survived by her son, Anthony R. Lopes; her sisters, Brenda Santos, Kym Gomes, and Joila Gomes; her grandchildren, Vanessa Johnson, Raneeka Lopes, and Anthony Lopes, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Jamiya, Jai’leigh, Avion, Nyel, Tyrell, and Karson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was the sister of the late Kevins Lopes, Curtis Lopes, Dana Lopes, Lance Lopes, and Dudley Gomes.
