Elena F. (Giaimo) Zero, age 85, of Stoneham, formerly of Medford and Lynnfield, Dec. 3, 2022. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to John P. Zero until his passing in 2009.
Born in Boston, Elena was raised in the North End, and moved to Medford as a child.
Attending Medford High School, Elena met the love of her life, John Zero. John and Elena married in 1958 and went on to have three beautiful children. Coming from a large Sicilian family, being around loved ones was the joy of her life and her kids were her greatest accomplishments.
Anybody lucky to have known Elena would describe her as caring, charismatic and elegant. She loved to travel with her husband, golfing, laughing with her sisters and shopping. Elena embodied grace and style and loved all of life’s beautiful pleasures. Most importantly Elena leaves her legacy as the matriarch of a family that loved her greatly.
We will keep her in our hearts with every fond memory and we will cherish every laugh we had, drink we shared, and holiday spent enjoying her company. What an incredible woman she was and what a wonderful life she had. We love you, Elena.
Elena is lovingly survived by her children: Marialaina Nicholl of Stoneham, Lisa Bannister and her husband Dwight of Hampstead, NH, Michael Zero and his wife Rhonda of Peabody. She was the devoted grandmother of Christopher and Hannah Nicholl, Lia and Hamid Khouyi, Melissa and Brandon Sweeney, Henry and Kayla Bannister, John Zero, and the late Audrey Zero. Elena was the adoring great-grandmother of Cara Lena, Scarlett, August and Olive. Dear sister of Joanne Abdella, Marie Lacey, Lillian Gagliardi and the late John, Frank & Iggy Giaimo, Frances Pecorella, Florence Saviano, and Vini Levin. Elena is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wed., Dec. 7 at 9AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 10AM.
