Doris E. (Grandison) Shrake, 94, of Anderson passed away on November 29, 2022 at Community Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born on September 9, 1928 in Cadiz, Indiana to Wallace Scott and Marye Elizabeth (Simmons) Grandison. She was a 1946 graduate of Markleville High School. She worked production at Delco Remy plant 10 for 30 years.
She was a member of East Christian Church in Markleville. She was a member of AMVETS Auxiliary and served as a past national and state president. She was still active until two years ago attending conventions. She enjoyed wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida for 40 years. She was a member of American Legion and Markleville Order of Eastern Star. She loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her eight nieces, Patsy Schultz, Stephanie Nichols, Melanie (Gary) Shallop, Marilyn Reece, Leah McDonald, Paula (Scott) Way, Virginia (Lloyd) Dunaway, and Marjorie (Terry) Adamson; several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Shrake in 1976; three siblings, Ann Girton (Jack) Neal, Paul (Eleanor) and Jack (Mary V.) Grandison; four nephews, Harry, Hugh, Mike and Tim Grandison.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Phil Hodson officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to East Christian Church.
