Russell Scott “Bug” Revels, 54, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida.
Memorial services will be held 1 PM, Saturday, December 10, 2022, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Charlie Solomon officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Russell Haven of Rest Funeral Home, 2335 Sandridge Road, Green Cove Springs, Florida.
Mr. Revels was born April 6, 1968, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Donald Russell & Carolyn Annette Thompson Revels. He was raised in Fitzgerald before moving to Cordele. A graduate of Valdosta State University, he worked with the State of Georgia in DFACS for 17 years. After moving to Jacksonville Beach, Scott worked with Avante Nursing Home and was currently employed with Palagios Senior Living in Orange Park as the Executive Director.
Over the years, Scott enjoyed boating, travelling, and working in the yard. Going to dinner, or better yet just cooking a great meal at home, Scott was quick to take the time to be social with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by many including his dog “Nayeli” and anyone that was lucky enough to be in his company.
Mr. Revels is survived by his husband, Larry Malloy of St. Augustine, Florida; son, Cory (Ashley) Peacock of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Rachael, Audrey, Harloe, and Sophia; brother, Mike Revels & Grace Rycroft of Fitzgerald; sister, Elaine (Donald) Champion of Fitzgerald; and a grandfather, Stanley Biggers of Fitzgerald. Several nieces, nephews and extended family also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents: LouBelle Thompson, Roy Revels, and Winnie Solomon Revels.
