Salvador J. Chávez, 77 of St. Cloud, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Salvador was born October 11, 1945 to the late Toribio Chávez and the late Carmen (Moreira) Chávez in Portoviejo, Ecuador, being the oldest of five children. He was raised in Manta, Ecuador, where he attended the area schools.
He emigrated to Lowell, Massachusetts in 1983 with his wife and their three sons, where he began working in the computer assembly field until his retirement, and later moved to Florida. Salvador was an avid reader who enjoyed good conversations, watching soccer, listening to classical music, nurturing his plants, and collecting elephant figurines. He loved spending time with his grandkids, who lovingly referred to him as “Grumpy”.
Salvador is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Santy Cevallos-Chávez, and three sons: Richard Chávez, his wife Rita B. Da Silva and their children Sebastian and Daniella of Dracut, Yuri Chávez and his daughter Frances of Miami, and Marcos Chávez and his family.
He is also survived by his siblings, Zoila Greenlay and her husband, Lance of Haverhill, Ramona Chávez of Tyngsboro, Kleber Chávez and his wife, Jeannette of Dracut; his sister-in-law, Isabel of Hampton, NH and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Edulfo Chávez.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 9-11 a.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816, followed by a mass at 12 noon St. Patrick Church, 282 Suffolk Street, Lowell.
