Dolores (DeBarros) Fonseca, 82, of New Bedford died November 19, 2022 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Richard J. Fonseca.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Raymond and Matilda DeBarros, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed as a home health aide for many years until her retirement. She was also a bartender.
Dolores was a foster mother for many years.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Raymond Fonseca of New Bedford and Todd Fonseca and his husband Jackie Rodriguez of Las Vegas; a daughter, Brenda Fonseca of New Bedford; 2 step-sons, Edgar Fonseca and his wife RoseMarie of New Bedford and Richard Fonseca of Lynn; a step-daughter, Christina Fonseca of Lynn; a daughter-in-law, Sharlen Fonseca of New Bedford; 2 sisters-in-law, Clara Fonseca and Shirley Surprenant, both of New Bedford; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Dale Fonseca, mother-in-law of the late Lisette Velez and grandmother of the late Dale Fonseca, Jr., Jovaun Fonseca and Silkia Fonseca and sister of the late Yvonne Ramos and Jose Ramos.
Her visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 28th from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 5:30 PM during the visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
