William Francis Hegarty, 75, of Medford, passed away on Wednesday, November 23rd. Cherished son of the late John T. and Mary (Young) Hegarty, he was the dear brother of John T. Hegarty, Jr. of Medford, the late Thomas L. and his loving companion Betsy Gillespie Hegarty, the late Robert G. and the late Mary C. Hegarty. William is survived by his nephew Michael Hegarty, his great nephew Theron Hegarty, former sister-in-law Norma Jean Grecco, all of Florida, and Sue Butler of Georgia. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
William was shot by a sniper June 1, 1967 when he was a newspaper boy and never had an opportunity to enjoy all the fruits of what life has to offer.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, on Wednesday, November 30th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford from 8:30-9:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
