Assunta (Coroniti) DeFazio, 92, of Medway, died November 25 in the Blaire House of Milford with her family beside her. She was the wife of the late Samuel DeFazio who died in 2007.
Born in Gasperina, Italy, November 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Domenic and Maria (Paparazzo) Coroniti, Mrs. DeFazio was raised in Italy and came to America in 1948, and had lived in Medway since then.
Assunta had been an attendant at Medfield State Hospital for over 25 years before retiring in 1991.
Assunta loved to cook and to be in the company of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Irene Antonellis and her husband Mark of Bellingham, Marie Kocak and her husband Sitki of Palm Coast, Florida and Lorraine Demir of Medway.
She is also survived by her brother Frank Coroniti and his wife Mary of Milford.
She was the sister of the late Grace Terracciano, Peter Coroniti and Dina Scafuto.
Assunta is also survived by her grandchildren, Mark Antonellis, Melissa Whitner, Daniel Demir, Suna Shaw and Nadya Kocak, and her great-grandchildren Riley and Karen Antonellis, Brady and Olivia, Jasmine and Maddie Shaw, Isabella Kocak, and Aydan Adams.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 30 in St. Brendan’s Church, Bellingham at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
